The Udzungwa Mountains is one of the highlights of Tanzania. Although Udzungwa is not a classic game viewing destination, it is the dream of all hikers. Since the Udzungwa was granted national park status, many hikers have been encouraged to these majestic mountains.

The Udzungwa Mountains are usually part of the range of the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tanzania. These mountains are covered with what remains of the great forest that covered the whole country. Thus, the amount of biodiversity is so great in these forests and a number of rare flora and bird species are actually found here.

Udzungwa is an imposing figure that rises from the coastal plain of scrub Tanzania. It is the largest mountain forest and the richest biodiversity in Africa. It covers 1,990 km sq ft and is situated 2756 meters at its peak. There is a high density of endemic plants, birds, butterflies and insects. In addition, these mountains are compared to an archipelago of isolated beaches, because these mountains are small fragments of the amazing Eastern Arc Mountain Range. Thus, as the Eastern Arc Mountains, Udzungwa can be classified as a tropical rain forest with high rainfall and rich savanna.

The main attractions of these mountains reptiles, amphibians, insects and plants, among others. Biodiversity is so great that hundreds of different species can be seen in most parts of the mountains. In addition, most of these species are endemic such as these can be found in the Udzungwa Mountains, including African violets.

Although some of these reasons that tend to attract tourists to Udzungwa, exciting trails and magnificent views towards the peak particularly attract hikers and birdwatchers. Among the many trails that can be browsed in the mountains, the most exciting and most difficult is the way Mwanihana. This trail leads to the second highest peak in the Udzungwa Mountains, which is the top Mwanihana.

A hike along the trail Mwanihana is an experience of a lifetime. It is a very popular piece by piece, where each stop promises new adventures and exciting things to discover.
