Children's Tennis Shoes

Pretty positive its not Raffi, but there was a video I used to always borrow from the library when I was a kid and it was a live performance on stage by the children's song writer, storyteller / . I forgot his name, and only partially remember his act. I can think of two songs / stories, and they could have been different performances (and perhaps even different singers, my memory is not great at this). A story that he spoke to a new super tennis shoes with Velcro straps (and he always ended his lengthy description of the shoe by a velcro ripping noise and focus on functionality "with veeeelllllccrrrrroooo" ). Somehow the place of children to fly by monsters or something and get them back, he swaps his old smelly pair of sneakers for the new pair of Velcro or something like that. In other songs he, s on stage in a fake car walking around with a fake baby talk and encounter scary things, like a crocodile, but every time they make the baby starts to sing a song and they move to the scary thing, or if I remember. If an index is enough for everyone I want a little help remembering the name of this performer.
