Snowflakes falling on my nose and eyelashes, yes. snow just that I can do things outside, yes. Sideways snow blowing across the platforms at the station, ice blasting my eyes as I walk or bike, NO. Massive fail. And how to fight against this wonderland of winter frost and frumpiness? Well, my prescription for this seasonal situation is a very important dose of sartorial elegance.

Think stylish umbrellas and bowler hats, fake furs and antiques, monocular and shoes studded thick, fluffy socks teamed with long underwear for boys and girls. Avoid rubber boots and parkas fangs, and instead seek to "Singing in the Rain" inspiration. The mean cold red cheeks and then a little cheek and lip tint gives a healthy glow to the pale winter. Go with the flow, love the look pale, use a moisturizing base to keep the winds at bay, lip balm at all times (winds and central heating means moisturizing is essential) and hold a red Classic lipstick in your handbag for long evenings. Summer is just around the corner, April and May were burner in recent years, so use the winter as an opportunity to deliver a different, and raid your mother's and grandmother's cabinet, will girls and boys ... glam.
All Saints rocked the trend bovver vintage start, but there are cheaper alternatives, think military surplus, vintage shops, fairs, even the old faithful Ebay.

Big boys tips for 2010

Vision Express have been touting the monocle as the must-have piece of the season, in fact it is so highly requested that they are back to their store, then boys, what are you waiting for? "Young Fogey" has never been the trend. But why stop there?

You may have missed Movember - a month like mustache, but do not despair just yet it is cool enough to sport facial fuzz, in fact, its positive discipline in some of the hottest in town! Make sure it's silly and rather than overstated larva wannabe verging-on-puberty. Plus it will keep your toast warm Stiff Upper Lip, and in conjunction with this season is the monocle, you can complete the look ... and see the snow (at least one eye) and give all the fillies eye style.

And for the ladies ...

A little glamorous thoughtful can lift your spirits no end, just think what seamed stockings made during the Blitz. And my big tip for 2010 is a beautiful pair of fake boobs - which is eyelashes. They help keep the snow on your eyes on your pretty eyelashes and you save your smudged mascara! Practical and sexy.

So, Dig Out Your hats, spats, neckties and give it winter "ruckus last before we're back to tasteless flops and go for another year.
