Hiking StoresThings to do in Calgary: Great (but easy) Hiking in the Rockies of Alberta 3

In a previous post, I covered the best hiking areas near Calgary. But, as I alluded to in this post, it gets even better ride is a short drive west into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I put up this short list of relatively easy walks that lead to gains in terms of great views, access and relative awesomeness.

Mt Yamnuska: This mountain is the place where the modern sport was born climbers. The south side is a massive cliff that gave birth to generations of some of the best climbers in the world has ever seen. The summit gives those who reach an unforgettable view of the Prairieland Alberta and the foothills and the ramparts of the Rocky Mountains. Fortunately, you do not need to be a pro climber to reach the top. It is a fun and easy to walk to confuse the back of it. The view from the top is simply superb, and makes a great reward for your work. Just keep in mind, which is a mountain, walking is harder than all the others listed here, but in terms of vertices reachable, it is easier than most.

North and South Kananaskis Lakes: The drive to get there is a little long, two hours, but you can use the car there as a base for a wide variety of hikes. For a simple easy walk you can walk the circuit of the lakeshore, and if you want something more complicated and difficult, you can take either the North or South Kananaskis Pass, or the company on a mission to Directions to Hidden Lake, or even Aster Lake and at the foot of the glacier Mangin. For maps, I highly recommend the map GemTrek Kananaskis Lakes.

Heart Mountain / Quaite Valley: Located approximately one hours drive west of Calgary in the heart of the mountains is the mountain easier and more accessible than you can climb. Or, if you fancy a trip to flatter, the next valley Quaite offer from a company short and sweet in the foothills of the Rockies. The trail can be taken the path of the barrier lake, and offers a surprising number of variations. Quaite Valley also has a small but nice, a campground is ideally situated 3 km to the runway. It is fairly close to the parking area that is an easy hike, but far enough to escape the noise of traffic. Maps of the region should be available in all stores hiking.
