Ice Skating ShoesThe beginnings of ice skating

Ice skating is a popular sport these days. But it is far from a new time. The oldest ice skates are never found, they say more than 5,000 years and were made from the leg bone of a horse or ox. They were attached to feet with leather straps and a metal tip was used to propel the skater forward. Of course, these skates have been used primarily for ease of transport across the ice and less fun even though we can never be completely sure!

Scandinavia and Finland are the obvious places for the first ice skates to do given their vast quantities of ice. Some examples of skates that have been discovered in these regions and consisted of a thin strip of copper attached to the underside of a leather shoe. So what can you do for a skate? Apart from some minor adjustments for comfort and durability, ice skating has barely changed over the past 5000 years.

The Long Reach was skating ice skating the most widely used for many years and this has been developed in New Brunswick, Canada by James A Whelpley in 1859. This was developed for long distance skating on the lakes and the family business of making ice skates in this area for seven years before moving to New Hampshire.

Modern ice-skating today has changed little although there are somewhat different reasons depending on what the user wants to do. Although the bottom of an ice skate is often perceived as a blade that is more like a knife. He made a hollow crescent-shaped along the surface so that you actually skate on two parallel edges. The depth of this dip varies between one quarter and one inch, depending on the type of skate and the goal it is used.

For a professional figure skater, this trough will be deliberately sculpted style depending on the skater and weight. Speed skates and touring skates have a completely flat bottom, hollow without using speed without cutting into the ice.

Figure skating ice skates are the most popular recreational. Molded leather rigid to support the ankle and foot with spikes for easy maneuvering, this is the type you will normally be hiring if you attend an arena for fun.

Hockey skates are much more lethal research skates. Molded plastic, leather and ballistic nylon they have better handling and thinner, faster than the blades of recreational ice skates. Goalies Ice Hockey Skate is cut lower and the blade is slightly different with a protective shell that provides more protection.

Bandy skates are very different. Used to play bandy rink, they come with a startup mode cut much lower, which barely covers the ankle and a longer blade. Racing skates or speed skates are extra long blade and the shoe is connected to the blade by a hinge. They also higher blades for better rotation and prevent starting to come into contact with ice.

Thus, if its recreational skating, figure skating, speed skating, ice skating or ice hockey bandy you want to take part in, finding the right type of skating will make the game much easier and much more at ease.
