Can you make Microsoft Word give you a number of words in the margin of your document? I need to hand in an experiment with regular notes in the margin indicates a cumulative number of words (all 50 words or something - like the number of lines in a play)
Is there a way to get word to do for me?
I'm not too keen on the idea of manually insert each count, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Pre 2007, you can count the words in a document, but you can not do the thing the margin.

If you click on the Toolbox, "then a box opens, displaying the total. If you click on" skinning "and then the box will be updated.
Remember Word does not meet publication standards for the counting of words.
This is not what you want, but it may help.
I do not like about this requirement.
Unfortunately, no, there is no way to make such a disgraceful thing in any version of Word, and I'd be wary of any instructor who requires.
