What is the civilians who think they can "distribute" information on military camps in Iraq? You do not just answer questions at random from the military camps in Iraq, you do not know if this person is a terrorist or not. I'm in the army and I'm just looking at the safety of "legal American citizens."
PS
I still want an answer to my question.
Most civilians have no concept of OPSEC, most of those you are talking OPSEC googling now to see what I mean.
We stopped keeping secrets in this country because the press has the right to let people know.
Had it been mine all the states classified or programs that have been printed in the press (or Yahoo Answers) have resulted in imprisonment of a person.
they want 10 points??
they want to look like an important know-it-alls??
they want to be married??
Hmm, I think if someone needs to know about a base in a theater, they know enough to ask an intelligent government entity, not brain surgeons on Yahoo Answers!
ps. - Thank you for your service!
As a member of the army you need to know what is and what isn't a violation of the security operation. If there was a violation of OpSec here on Y! A farely Im sure there are enough service members here to report these violations and have taken the matter before it can hurt ..
Besides displaying maps, places, and common practices Military / schedule / call signs, it isn't only you can post as a violation of OpSec.
If you see something you feel is a violation of OpSec, report it to Y! A and Im sure they will delete the message. But make sure it is an actual violation before going to cry wolf.
Thornton-SGT, U.S. Army
Camp Buehring, Kuwait
knows more about the terrorists camps in Iraq than you do.
We are in a police action and police action is directed by civilian politicians. They have no intention of winning a military victory. They intend to win political advantage. Your security is secondary to a rating of the media / political points. It will give you in a minute if it means more votes or money for their bureaucracy. You think it is wrong now - Vote for Ol 'Hil-baby and you will see the army as his troops PMS! USMC 60-68
I feel like a civilian who is putting lives at risk should be considered as the scum they are. Not only do I feel, but I stopped many civilians in the area for similar things. The lots are "reporters". Sometimes it seems that the enemy is all around you ...
Almost every base in Iraq has not only military and American civilians, but the local employees and truck drivers entering the base. The insurgents have many sources for their information, so I doubt they are behind with Y! To try to get detailed information.
I know what I mean is, I'm still in Basic leave (Exodus) and when I ask questions about my AIT or mos ect, I get most answers civilians, some know their whath speak, but even I who is just beginning can say some are complete non-attendance!
