Oxford Reading Tree and Storyworlds (Heinemann ).... Help? My son's school has recently changed the Oxford Reading Tree Storyworlds (Heinemann), can someone tell me the comparison of stages from one to another, for example, was a primary reading ( Oxford Reading Tree) Stage 5 (the last book was the secret room) and is now in Primary 2 Reading (Heinemann) Storyworlds - Red Ted at the beach which is step 4. I am so confused because I think he made a big step backwards, I want to approach his master, but with the facts. Does anyone know at what stage or a book, you have to be given storyworlds in his last book he read in the tree reading of Oxford, or if there is a kind By comparison, the graph I can I spend? please if anyone has any info it would be very appreciated!
You need not worry as much about the comparison of the two schemes since it is expanding its vocab. He read books at their own pace and it will give him confidence in his ability to read and understand.
I would just go talk to his teacher. Sometimes, children are moved too quickly in a system of reading, and if they move faster than their ability so they can lose confidence and lack of key skills. Perhaps his new teacher tries to regain its ideal level, and help pregress a level with which he is confident. Is there any school that have passed or just your son? I'm sorry I do not know the comparisons, but I'm sure his master would discuss it with you.
